Family Tours

Tavern Museum
Sunday afternoons

April 25
May 9
June 20
July 18
August 22

1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Gadsby's Tavern Museum
134 North Royal Street
Alexandria, Virginia
This spring Gadsby’s Tavern
Museum is welcoming families
with special tours hosted by
its new Junior Docents.

Families are invited to tour
the historic tavern as Junior
Docents, volunteers from grades 3
through 6, share their enthusiasm
for history with your family.

Let your kids be inspired by
their peers as they tour the
tavern where George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson and others
made history!

Junior Docents will be stationed
at each stop on the tour,
including the taproom, bed
chambers, ballroom, assembly
room and dining room, so visitors
can tour at their own pace.

In the late 18th and early
19th centuries, Gadsby’s Tavern
was the center of social and
political life in Alexandria
and the new Federal City of
Washington. The tavern served
as the premier gathering place
for residents – including George
Washington – and visitors to
eat, drink, learn, and
influence history.
$5 for adults and $3 for kids.

Gadsby’s Tavern Museum is offering free admission to visiting mothers on Mother’s Day, May 10, and to visiting fathers on Father’s Day, June 21.

For more information, please call (703) 838-4242 or visit http://www.gadsbystavern.org..
The museum is wheelchair accessible on the first floor only.

No handicapped parking is available.

Parking is on the street and at various commercial lots in the area.

Take Metro to King Street on the Blue/Yellow lines and transfer (for $.35) to a DASH bus and get off at Royal and King Streets.

For public transportation options, visit Metro at http://www.wmata.com and use the Trip Planner.
